| JJ Valaya WIFW AW10 |
J J Valaya's collection was inspired by Alika, a courtesan from the feudal society of India. The collection reflects various phases of her life, from despair to hope to happiness, passion and indifference. The entire collection was very rich, classy, sophisticated and contemporary, with impeccable craftsmanship. The collection comprises long and short elegant evening dresses, jackets with churidar pants, sarees, kurtis, cholis with lehengas and tunics. The color palette begins with a story, starting with blacks and ivories, gradually moving towards more potent reds and culminates in metallic shades. For his collection, Valaya has used fabrics such as jersey, dupion, georgette and fine velvets with embrace techniques ranging from distressed foils, digital printing, applique, laser cutting and the fabled Valaya embroideries to create a collection which attempts to provide a perfect blend of the past with cutting-edge contemporary chic.
